Garret0102 on "403 Forbidden Error - Can't access website or login"

So this morning I tried logging into my wp site source1blog.com and was met with a 404 redirect stating the page i'm looking for doesn't exist. I disabled plugins and was able to login but could not update wp or access the themes or plugins tabs.

I then created a backup of my database using phpmyadmin
I then created a backup of my wp files using winscp

I tried installing a fresh version of wordpress and importing the database and content folder.

Was met with the following error:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thinking i screwed something up i undid all my changes,(dropped the database, imported from backup, deleted wordpress files via ftp, reupload backup wordpress files via ftp)

I hoped this would bring me back to where i started with the 404 error but instead i am still getting a 403 forbidden error now.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next. any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I have worked with MF2 for quite some time with no issues. recently I notices 2 of my sites having an issue with the image media field. The page displays no thumbnail, i have had this happen in the past, but the image still shows up on the front end. (not the end of the world). Now tho, images are not added to the front or back. I have tried many things:
permalinks, permissions, fall back version of the plugin, hacks/mods suggested by others with troubles... Ive tried getting the image as get_image() and by just get() to see the image url. Still no luck. When I click on set image the media library pops up and works like normal. its not until you hit set image in the media manager that nothing happens. The popup closes and no image is set. When you hit update on the post, the page refreshes and you can see the image is broken. Also if you view custom fields (coreWP) you can see the meta key and the image url are active, but yet no image in the front end.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all,

My Website: http://zomblogger.com
Relevant Security: wp-content folder security is OFF.

I ran into a problem with the NGFB app and Facebook Debugger that led me, after 4 days of research, to the following:

In the folder http://zomblogger.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/08 some image files are web accessible while some produce a 403 Forbidden to Access error.

I encountered this problem trying to use the NGFB app to share posts to FaceBook and other social media.

With the aid of some of the people at Facebook Developers Forum, we discovered that the og:image tag was giving a 403 Forbidden error.

The permissions on all of these files are the same as far as I can tell.

The one thing I have noticed about the inaccessible files is that they seem to be autogenerated resized copies of my original uploaded image and all of their file names end in the dimensions followed by a 1. For example: http://zomblogger.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/15418062_mtest3-150x1501.jpg

Can anyone explain what app or WP function would be creating these images, and how I can make them accessible so I can use them as default, featured, or other images that will share correctly to FB and elsewhere?

Again, the folder is accessible and the file permissions appear to be equal for all images in the folder.

I've tried this plugin on a development site, and it works beautifully.
I then tried it on an existing site which uses the same theme, and got the WSOD, apart from the single word "Forbidden"

I disabled all other plugins, but still got "Forbidden"

Any idea what might cause this? Or how would I fix it?

Thanks

Ben

Hello!

I have a shop where every purchase runs smoothly but when the Order Complete email comes in, the link takes customers to a 403 error page. I'll put some relevant information below.

  • The file URLs match the directory exactly so I know they are there.
  • The files were uploaded using the woocommerce "choose file" button on the product page.
  • DL products are set to "Force Download"
  • DLs do not require login
  • DLs grant access after payment
  • There is an htaccess file in the "woocommerce_uploads" folder that only says "deny from all".
  • File URL reads "mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/2015/08/file-name.pdf" no www or http://. Adding http:// still results in a 403

Is there any other information that would be helpful to diagnose this? Any ideas on how to fix this? 100% of my purchases are getting this error, not just some.

WordPress version: 4.3.1
Plugin version: 2.6.1
Link to my site:

I expected the plugin to do this: save files

Instead it did this: returned a 403 forbidden error

Here's what I've tried so far: nothing because I can't get beyond this

I have (almost) complete control over my server so I'd like to know where I am being refused permission to save my files? This happens when adding my first tune. I click save and it returns this error on page http://followtheboat.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=hmp_palylist

Knowing where that forbidden setting is might be all I need to make the correct change to my server settings.

Cheers

Hello, I've recently manually restored my site (but didn't touch wordpress itself). Everything looks fine but I can't see the blog, getting this "Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /blogs/ on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." here: http://linandara.com/blogs/

I can see the list of blog posts in dashboard, can edit and view them, (e.g. http://linandara.com/todays-sunset-spain-torrevieja-beach/ ), random posts appear on a widget and are sent through a plugin to twitter OK. But not the blog page.

I changed permalinks settings, restored an old wp-config.php - it didn't helped. Hope somebody knows what this could be. Thank you!

Hi All,

I am getting 403 Fobidden error when trying to access directly from URL.

Here is my blog page url : http://www.modestmoney.com/peer-lending-returns-still-sizzling/

Images are displaying in post details page correctly but when i am trying to access the same image directly from url like below then it will giving me 403 Forbidden Error
http://www.modestmoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Peer-Lending1.jpg

When we right click on the post image and open image in new tab then it will be opened as below:

http://www.modestmoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Peer-Lending1.jpg?1a2ec8

So the images are accessible when we add ?1a2ec8 parameter but i dont know why its added automatically?

My upload directory has 0755 permission and all the images have 0644 permission. I have installed W3TC plugin.

Can you please advise me on this what should i do to access images directly from the url like: http://www.modestmoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Peer-Lending1.jpg

Firstly, apologies if this is not the right place to post - but I am at my wits' end.

I added two new domains and addon domains to my hosting account yesterday (www.bizowl.co.nz and http://www.bogs.co.nz) - this all went fine and from my iPhone or any other PC I can access the sites (which are currently default WP pages), but when I try and access them from my PC, I encounter '403 Forbidden Nginx'. I am using Google Chrome on Windows 10, in case that makes a difference, but have also tried accessing the site through the new Edge browser without success.

From what I have read, this appears when you are not allowed access to certain information contained on a server, for whatever reason, right?

However, I can't for the life of me figure out why my PC is being blocked.

Things I have tried:

- Clearing all browsing history, cookies, etc. within Chrome (also encountering the same errors in Edge)
- Tried flushing the DNS through Command
- Check permissions within the cPanel - all appear to be set correctly to 644 and 755
- Restarting PC
- Restarting modem

I am running Unlocator (geo-blocking) on my PC in order to be able to watch Netflix US - again, not sure if this could be causing issues, but thought it worth mentioning as it's the only thing I can think of different to my fiancee's PC that is on the same network and able to access the sites without issue.

Finally, I was briefly able to access http://www.bogs.co.nz and the wp-admin at one point, but was still encountering the error for http://www.bizowl.co.nz so I reset the PC again and then went back to encountering errors for both. Also, I generally only receive the 403 Forbidden error when trying to access the wp-admin page - when entering the standard URL (www.bizowl.co.nz or http://www.bogs.co.nz) it often takes me to a CrazyDomains holding page (which might suggest that this is still cached??).

I am sorry for rambling, but I would really appreciate some help with this...I feel I might literally be growing a tumour trying to figure this out.

southp on "[Plugin: WP REST API (WP API)] How to create a comment as a registered user?"

Hi, I’m working on a plugin which uses WP API V2 to do ajax GET / POST of comments.

The workflow is:
1. Override the on submit event of the comment form generated by WordPress comment_form()
2. Serialize the form data, and transforme it to the format required by WP API
3. Fill in the author, author_name, and author_email . These are captured at the beginning of my template page comments.php.
4. Do POST via jQuery.ajax(...)

While it works fine for an unregistered user, I’m experiencing 403 (Forbidden) whenever I do POST /comments as a registered user. The following is the data I posted:

{
    author: 1,
    author_email: "admin@example.com",
    author_name: "admin",
    content: "TEST new comment",
    parent: 0,
    post: 1
}

Do I need to do any kind of authentication before doing the POST? Or do I miss any required data fields?

Thanks.

Hi,

I've been manual ways to do minify, but still would love to get the W3 Cache plugin to do it for me. However, it gives a HTTP 403 FORBIDDEN message when attempting to use it.

Minify via disk is currently enabled.
Rewrite URL structure (tested ticked and not).

Lets say I just add one single CSS file, it will no longer load, the error message provided:

HTTP403: FORBIDDEN - The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it.
(XHR): GET - (domain)/wp-content/cache/minify/000000/de1ea/default.include.15549d.css

File/folder CHMOD permissions also look fine as far as I can tell, any ideas?

MagicAce on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Custom Error/Forbidden Page?"

Is it possible you can add an option for site admins to create a custom error page when we block a user?

When I block somebody, I prefer to use a 404 Not Found message or even a redirect to a different URL instead of the generic Forbidden message, so the user doesn't even realize he was blocked. I'm currently using htaccess instead of your plugin to deny access from IP addresses, but it would be much easier to block using your plugin if you would just give me a way to customize the forbidden page.

If this is somehow currently possible, please advise, otherwise, thanks for any consideration you can give towards a feature like this.
